You may notice that I am DONE, THAT’S RIGHT DONE trying to tenuously link lyrics from Talking Heads’ New Wave classic “Burning Down the House” to whatever I’m posting. This will, I hope, stave off that stress ulcer by a few more years.
I digress! In this post, I would like to draw your attention to fantastic and hilarious blog “The Worst of Perth”, a blog that seeks to chronicle the low points of Perth City with a zest and vigour normally reserved for Blair’s dad at a buffet. I think it’s fair to say that a lot of the contributors and readers of this site are from Perth, WA (and Germany apparently! Hallo Deutschland!), but even if you aren’t it’s well worth checking out. The site also chronicles “Worsts” from all over WA, Australia and even some from China! Probably more, as I’m yet to consume the archives.
Some of my favourites so far include:
-A treatise on the use of the Swan in typography. (Como Secondary College graduates in the audience, you know what I mean!)
-The “Leopard Car”
-The inexplicable “Sin City Lunch Bar”
-”I came for the spelling, but stayed for the apostrophe”
I’m a sucker for local content, I must say, and I do enjoy looking at something and going “Hey wow! I’ve seen that!” Head on over and see what you think.
Just would like to point out now that I’m not one of those Anti-Perth people (Although there are a lot of you! Is there a club? Do you get discounts on stuff?), I just enjoy a good laugh.
Also, for those of you studying for and partaking in exams at the moment, good luck! I have two down myself with two more to go. Studying is made kind of hard by my kitten Gilgamesh deciding that he needs to attack what I’m reading, it’s true, but I persevere. He helps with exam stress, anyway, when he’s not tearing into my notes or flesh.

Hi mate, I’m glad you like the worst of perth. It is as much a celebration of Perth as a condemnation. I think you’ll find much to your liking in the archives. There are 700 or so posts now.
